SHINGRIX VACCINE: WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Shingrix is a vaccine that helps protect against a disease called shingles. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the Shingrix vaccine for adults 50 years and older.

Shingles is a painful rash that can be on your face, body, or arms and legs. It's caused by a virus that can also cause chickenpox. Shingrix is 90% effective at preventing shingles and long-term nerve pain caused by shingles.

The Shingrix vaccine is given as a shot in your arm and is a 2-dose series. The second dose is given 2-6 months after the first dose.

Some common side effects of the vaccine include:

  • Pain and redness at the injection site
  • Muscle pain
  • Fatigue
  • Headache

These side effects are usually mild and go away on their own within a few days.

Getting the Shingrix vaccine is easy and safe. You can talk to your local pharmacist to see if you should get the vaccine. They will be happy to help you and answer any questions you have.

Remember, the Shingrix vaccine is a simple and important way to help keep you healthy and protect you from getting shingles. So, if you're 50 years or older, talk to your pharmacist about getting the vaccine today!
